Sea Buckthorn: The True Healing Oil for Tissue Regeneration!

Sea Buckthorn, or hippophae rhamnoides, has been making the news lately for its remarkable health promoting properties. And while some of the scientific research may be new, the benefits of Sea Buckthorn have been well known for centuries. While the uses of Sea Buckthorn include treatments for high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, rheumatism, allergies, and many more, Sea Buckthorn for tissue regeneration is of particular interest because of the mounting research showing its efficacy.

Tissue regeneration is a critical concern for those recovering from severe burns, deep wounds, abrasions, as well as the effects of cancer and chemotherapy. Scientific research is showing that Sea Buckthorn berry has the chemical makeup necessary to help the body heal from injuries more effectively and quickly.

What is it that makes Sea Buckthorn useful for skin regeneration? Body tissues, whether the skin on the outside, or the tissues that make up the less visible parts of the body, are made up of dozens of building blocks. If some of those crucial building blocks are missing, then tissue either does not heal, or heals slowly and ineffectively. The body obtains many of those building blocks in the form of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, proteins, and other substances found in foods and supplements. Sea Buckthorn contains a host of these building blocks including vitamins C, A, several B vitamins, E, K, P, F, as well as omega-7, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, and sodium.

Medical scientists are always seeking to find more effective means of dealing with the damaging effects of major burns. Silver sufadiazine (SSD) has been the standard in burn treatment for many years, but not without its side effects. Several studies on the efficacy of Sea Buckthorn for burn treatment have been done, including one in which researchers at the Department of Biochemical Pharmacology in Delhi, India, conducted a side by side trial of Silver and Sea Buckthorn. The comparison showed faster reduction in wound area and increased collagen synthesis in wounds treated with the Sea Buckthorn (1). Further studies confirmed the effectiveness of Sea Buckthorn for tissue regeneration, without any reported side effects (2, 3).

While the scientific reasoning behind the effectiveness of Sea Buckthorn oil and extract can be somewhat technical, other explanations are far easier. Vitamin E, long famed for its tissue regeneration properties, comprises 76% to 89% of the fruit or seeds of Sea Buckthorn, accounting for its powerful skin healing properties (4).  Read more about sea buckthorn and healing skin ailments here.

The properties of Sea Buckthorn make it a powerful, natural means for promoting wound healing, and overall skin health. As scientists take the time to explore its uses and effectiveness, more of its historical uses are sure to be confirmed. With the abundance of topical products available, many people are now turning to Sea Buckthorn for tissue regeneration.
